A’s News

– First off…the A’s are back in first place! And boy did we miss it, lets just hope we can continue to do well, win more games, and stay in first place.

– Second, Anderson is back! And he didn’t allow 1 run…great to have him back, we need his arm

– But as we get Anderson back, we sadly found out that Duke won’t be coming back this season…as a result of him needing hip surgery. I just hope he can make a speedy recovery, I really like seeing him on the mound. We’ll miss you this season Duke!!

– On a side note, I read that Swisher is engaged…Congrats!

– And last but not least, today history was made again….Roy Halladay became the 20th player to pitch a perfect game!! I only got to see the last 2 outs, but a big Congrats to him!

Ugh…

Well tonight’s game was sure interesting. Actually, let’s go back to the beginning…before the game even started I saw an article that Duchscherer and Cust were back! That right there brought a smile to my face, Duke hasn’t played since the end of April when he hurt his hip, and boy do we need him back. So game time was about to get under way and all of a sudden I hear that Duchscherer is out, Tyson Ross (our reliever) is in! Wait, what?!?

So I’m guessing Duke’s hip must have started acting up right before the game was about to start…because this was literally a last minute change. I must say though, Ross did very well the first 3 innings, but then the 4th inning came, and it was downhill ever since (12-3)

And then to add to the sadness…Cust was about to get an easy out in the bottom of the 8th, when he took his eye off the ball and it fell out of his glove.

Ugh…I’m not sure what else I can say, but on a plus, Texas lost too! Let’s hope we can shake these past few games off and start back up & get some wins!

Go A’s!

Old A’s Join the AL West

Well it looks like we will be seeing some familiar faces this season, but sadly they will be playing against us. So far, we’ve seen Eric Byrnes, Milton Bradley, and Mike Sweeney on the Mariners alone (and we’ve already played them twice!) Didn’t the season just start?

For me, the weirdest was seeing Byrnes, I still picture him in an A’s jersey playing outfield for us. Last I heard he was with the Diamondbacks. Lucky for him though, since his contract isn’t up yet with them, he’s getting paid by Arizona for this season along with the Mariners….NICE!

Also, in watching today’s game, I overheard Harden’s name get brought up. As I quickly turned the water off in the sink to run over and turn the volume up on the TV, I found out that Harden is now with the Rangers! When did this happen? The good thing is us A’s fans will get to see him more….I wish we never traded him and Haren (but that’s another story). The bad thing is he will  be playing against us.

Well day 2 of our series against the Mariner’s is tomorrow…and Duke did great today in the series opener.

Go A’s

Game 1 in Bay Bridge Series

What a game! First off…Duchscherer took the mound and owned it. He went into the bottom of the 4th without a hit off of him. That right there made the game in my opinion. But to add to the fun, in the 1st inning alone, Kouz hit a huge double against Zito that hit off the wall. And to bring him in was Suzuki with a 2-run Home Run!

All in all Duchscherer only had 3 hits against him in 6 innings, but not one run scored. We ended up winning 9-0. I hope this is the start of something great for our A’s. Boy do we need to get out of this slump.

Fingers Crossed…

Now I don’t want to count my chickens before they hatch…but it looks like Duchscherer is about to make a come back! Alright Duke! I can’t wait to see him back on the mound. I was fortunate enough to see him pitch right before he left for the All-Star game 2 seasons ago. We played against LAA, and even though we lost, it was just great to see Duchscherer pitch in person.

I hope all goes well for the rest of Spring Training so he will be able to start in regular season. We definitely need him in our starting rotation, and maybe it will even bring fans back to our games.

Go Duchscherer!

Spring Training is in the Air

It’s that time of year again!! The boys are back in Arizona, and from what I’ve been reading things are looking pretty good (knock on wood). I’m most excited to hear that Duchscherer, besides undergoing a minor nerve procedure, seems to be looking great and ready to get back on the mound. Go Duchscherer!!

Next up we have Chavez. Now I’ll be honest, I’m still wanting Barton to stay over at first (sorry Chavez). But any guy that is willing to dive into the splits to get an out is dedicated to our team. And I think Barton can have a really good future with us. Or my next pick would be Tommy Everidge (he can produce some big hits) and he’s a local boy, so I’m going to be kind of bias there.

I also heard they’re thinking about having Chavez become a DH, which I’m going to have to disagree with as well. I’ve been wanting Powell to become our DH for a long time now, and now that there’s a chance he might get that opportunity I really hope it works out for him.

Well see how the rest of training goes, and only 1 more week until the first spring training game…I can’t wait!!
